They're Everywhere - They're Everywhere

Got this message on my phone today. Found it very very disturbing. Oldest son went to grade school with one of them, she was a stoner in  4th grade, no big surprise here. Familiar with a few of the other names as well but can't wait til tomorrow to find out who the juveniles were.  I have to give my kids high fives for avoiding this crap and these groups of people.

It's right around the corner

Today I suddenly realized that Christmas is right around the corner. Last week I ordered some yarn in order to work on our required "home made gifts" tradition. Now that the kids are older and pretty much get everything they want, when they want it we instituted a new tradition last year. Each person draws a name from a hat, they must make a gift for that person and they also have to shop for their stocking spending exactly $20. Last year was pretty interesting.  Brian made me a table in woodshop at school. Shelby had Brian and she made him a cell phone holder out of clay and then decorated it with very Brian things. Andy had Shelby he made her a... it was so exciting I don't remember what it was, either does Shelby. I had Andy and I made him a fleece blanket for his bed. It is still in the box I gave it to him in. Oh well....for the most part they got it. They realized that it is easy to just go buy something for someone (especially when mom hands you the money) but that when you make something special, and personal for a person there is a lot more meaning to it and thought put into it.  I am sticking to my tradition again this year and even expanding it to homemade gifts for the girlfriends. I think they will both appreciate that I made them....they are sweet that way.  Here is the beginning of Allie's scarf.....

Veteran's Day

The Bravest Man I Know
by Amanda Whitney

The bravest man I know.
Is a man I've never met.
He's a man who risks his life
To save a friend,
Not only to save a friend,
But to save a nation.
Risking his life
For those he does not know.
Stepping up
Leaving loved ones behind,
So that somewhere,
Someone else won't have to.
He is a man who follows orders
Even though he knows he might die.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who would rather die,
So one more person could go home
To see his family again.
The man who stares death in the face,
But never blinks.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who risks his life
So one day the world may be a better place for his children.
Or any man who goes against his biggest fear.
DEATH
Just to save someone he loves.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who fights
So another man can have the taste of sweet freedom.
Not fighting only for his own benefit,
But for many others all over the world,
Fighting to make this world a better place.

That's the bravest man I know

Another trip to the dentist

I finally decided to start using my dental benefits! Last week was a root canal, today three little cavities. That was 4 hours ago, I still can't feel my nose!
